In Paul’s final letter before his death, he urges his Gospel delegate, Timothy, to Gospel faithfulness. In these opening verses, we see what true Christian love looks like and how it flows out of a living faith in Christ.

We need to be on guard against false teaching because it is often very subtle, promoting external, legalistic worship rather than true spiritual worship of the heart by faith in Christ. In our passage, we see four components of false teaching in regards to marriage and foods, and the grace-fueled antidote to this false teaching.
