When King Saul is placed in a fiery trial, he refuses to obey the word of the Lord, and as a result, his royal dynasty is rejected by God. This teaches us the folly of disobeying God (even in the most difficult situations) and it points to the glory of the perfect obedience of Christ for our salvation.
