God's aim for every believer is for you to have confidence before him. He does not want you to wallow in lack of assurance. And we see in our passage that this confidence is demonstrated in both assurance of salvation and in our prayers before him.

God has given his sure testimony of Christ in the water (Christ's baptism), the blood (Christ's atoning death on the cross), and the Spirit. None of us can be neutral to this testimony: we either receive it or we reject it. And we see in our passage 3 significant reasons why receiving God's testimony is so urgent.
